Montgomery County Department of Parks and Heritage Services

A nineĀmember Park Board comprised of County residents advises the staff and Commissioners on park operations. The Montgomery County park system is recognized as one of the finest in the state.

Montgomery County, working with Fairmount Park, developed the bike/hike Schuylkill River Trail. In the late 1990's, work began and was completed on the Perkiomen Trail that follows the Perkiomen Creek from Green Lane Park and connects to the Schuylkill River Trail in Oaks.

The county has also restored and preserved several historic homes that are open to the public and provide educational and historic programs throughout the year.
