On Feb. 24 we took a bus tour to four amazing local breweries where we learned a bit about history and conservation while enjoying tastings of beer brewed on site.
We met at the Phoenixville Foundry boarded a bus and began our Heritage and Hops adventure. Our first stop was Oakbrook Brewing in Reading where each guest enjoyed two beer tastings and learned about the building's history as the Oakbrook Fire Station. Then, we headed to Sly Fox Brewery in Pottstown for lunch, more tastings and a behind the scenes tour of the brewery. After lunch, we visited Hidden River Brewery in Douglassville, at it's historic location, the former Brinton Lodge, dating back to the 1700s. We finished our adventure at Root Down in Phoenixville, a former Root Beer Factory with a fun atmosphere. There we had two tastings and a presentation on Phoenixville's history.
