AmeriCorps VISTA Trail Sustainability Coordinator

We are pleased to have AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer Le’Santha Naicker serve as our Trail Sustainability Coordinator for one year through November 2018. She will be working to further the Schuylkill River Greenways NHA mission by continuing several projects initiated by our former VISTA members. Those include: organizing a Heritage Conservation Corps for trail building projects in Schuylkill County and continuing a Community Garden Initiative in Mahanoy City. She will also manage Project SOLO (Student Outdoor Leadership Odyssey), an environmental educational initiative aimed at middle and high school students.

Le'Santha is from Hillsborough, NJ and has a degree in Environmental Studies and International Relations from Albright College. She is familiar with the Berks and Schuylkill Area and hopes to learn from the people and communities of the region. Since graduating in 2016 she has served a term of service with another AmeriCorps program, AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps, where she helped survivors of Hurricane Irma in Florida register for federal disaster assistance. She is excited to start her year with Schuylkill River Greenways NHA.

AmeriCorps VISTA mission is to strengthen organizations that alleviate poverty through volunteering and the mobilization of resources. There are currently over 7,000 VISTA's serving in the United States and its territories.
