American Milestones Documentary Video

The Schuylkill River Heritage Area short-form documentary was produced by American Milestones for public and commercial television stations nationwide.  A short one-minute segment aired in November 2012 on 200 commercial stations across the country. The above version has been distributed to public television stations nationwide, where it will be used throughout the year in between regular programming. The film focuses on the region's history and recreational opportunities, highlighting both the Schuylkill River Trail and the Schuylkill River Sojourn.  Interviews with experts relate the heritage of the Schuylkill River region and the role it played during the American, Industrial and Environmental Revolutions. The film also incorporates a message about conservation and protection of the river, which is a source of drinking water for 1.5 million people.
Funding for this project was provided by the William Penn Foundation, Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.
